You can’t go wrong with the classic white shirt. They’re a wardrobe essential for any person. This classic shirt comes in a range of fits and styles and the beauty of the white shirt is that its so versatile it can be worn with almost anything and in countless ways.
The white shirt was first introduced to women in the 18th Century and was worn as an essential billowy white cotton blouse dress. It eventually became a representation of the new independent working class woman and associated to important views of cleanliness and purity.
In the 20th century however it was Hollywood stars in movie moments who kept it as a stylish symbol and ensured its evolution.
The beauty of a white shirt is its so versatile that you can wear anything with it, These days a shirt is associated as a basic office piece but it’s how you wear your white shirt that makes it more than just being simply a uniform or a working shirt.
I’m styling a white shirt from Nude Lucy. This gorgeous relaxed cut and summer-ready shirt is a blend of linen and cotton and feels so gentle on. Here are four of my super stylish looks in a Classic white shirt.
1. Wear your white shirt with a beautifully cut high-waisted trouser, tucked-in to show your curves, hair tied up, with gorgeous dangling earrings and add a pair of lace ups for a casual look or heels for your evening pleasure. If you want to hide your tummy try a peplum shirt or a mid riff draped shirt over the pants not too tight or too loose and accentuate other body parts that you love most, this will help take the attention away from the belly.
Creating my super chic look: I’m wearing a stylish high waisted army green luxe pant finished with a classic drawstring waistline from Top Shop (I love the detail around the waist its really unique) and the most comfy and divine strappy Sandler snake print high heels. The dazzling bronze hooped earrings i have on are handmade with love by me.
2. Feeling Nostalgic then turn back time with this revamped 1950s look. Wear a knotted white shirt with a pair of timeless jeans rolled up at the hem. Add a slim belt, a pair of your favorite hooped earrings and kitten heels and you’ve created a sexy classic look. Don’t forget your red lipstick!
My 50s inspired outfit: I’m wearing a high waisted pair of comfy slim mom jeans from Miss Selfridge and elevate your look with a set of Zara sling back kitten heels. I also jazzed it up a little with a skinny red belt which I found on Asos a while ago and dangling drop down circle silver earrings from Piper in Myer. My finishing touch to this vintage assemble is my bright red lippy which is my all time favorite colour from Loreal.
3. An open shirt with a soft cotton singlet conveys comfort and simplicity – add it with a skirt, a pair of your favorite bermuda shorts or lounge pants even (whatever your style just make sure you feel absolutely comfortable). Wear your favorite pair of sneakers and your set for a comfy everyday look. To further enhance this look wear a subtle necklace around your neck or stud earrings if you’d like.
Comfort is the key: I’m wearing a striking navy and white striped Sportcraft tank top, comfy blue Lounge pants from Elm clothing and gorgeous white Sandler sneakers.
4. Layer it… Pop your classic white shirt underneath a sexy slip dress with some casual booties and that’s your outfit for the day. Not only are you styling your evening apparel in a new and exciting way, you’re also getting more use out of dressier pieces that sit in the wardrobe for those special occasions that never seem to come around that often.
