Its a sunny day here in Melbourne and most of us are either tanning at the beach or spending the day at home, I’d usually be working today at Flemington Racecourse hosting for VRC and admiring the amazing outfits that are paraded from both women and men but instead I’m enjoying the Melbourne Cup with my family.

I thought today is the perfect day to share a very special outfit with you. A beautiful summer dress that evokes emotion and nostalgia especially to my mum.
My parents were married on the 1st of March in 1975 in a traditional Greek church in Brunswick. My mum created her own chic lace wedding gown (classic and simple) and 3 vibrant, floral maxi dresses for her stunning bridesmaids designed in 1974!

I decided to share the stylish bridesmaid dress (Always a Bridesmaid never a bride lol… that’s me) with you today as I feel its perfect for a unique Melbourne Cup look at home! The dress is so playful yet sweet with vivid colours and a stunning floral print. It was altered in the late 90s from a maxi dress to a mini because I wanted to wear it back then too so I asked my mum to shorten it for me. Now I think I should have kept it long, but hey I still love it no matter what.

Its light and airy, made from cotton/polyester fabric with a simple a line cut, gorgeous bell sleeves and it definitely makes a statement with the orange and blue contrasts. It also has a sweetheart neckline which gives it that feminine touch.

I jazzed this dress up with a gorgeous neutral straw hat, my very own handmade dangling earrings and a pair of tan strap leather wedges. I’m also sipping on a Lemon with Elderflower, Sofi Spritz (which ill tell you more about one day as it is Australian made and extremely refreshing) at home as I’m writing. The perfect Cup vibe.
Congratulations to Twilight Payment for the 2020 Melbourne Cup Win!!!
